Thank You to Our Board of Governors
As we close another successful organizational year, I want to sincerely thank the members of the ACEC Louisiana Board of Governors for their dedication and service to our Association. Their leadership and commitment have been instrumental in advancing the business of engineering and strengthening the value we provide to our member firms.
A special thank you goes to our outgoing Board Chair, Sherri LeBas, P.E., for her exceptional leadership over the past year. Sherri's steady guidance, collaborative approach, and unwavering commitment to our mission have helped position ACEC Louisiana for continued success. On behalf of our entire membership, thank you, Sherri, for your outstanding service.
I also want to recognize and thank Chad Poche, our current ACEC National Director and Past Board Chair. This year marks Chad's final year serving on the Board of Governors, bringing to a close many years of dedicated leadership and service to ACEC Louisiana. Chad has generously given his time, expertise, and passion to this organization, helping shape its direction while representing both our members and Louisiana engineering firms with distinction at the state and national levels. We cannot thank Chad enough for his years of service and the lasting impact he has made on our Association.
As we look ahead, we are excited to welcome four new members to the Board of Governors:
- Blake Roussell, Stanley Consultants – Baton Rouge Chapter President
- Joseph Marino, DDG – Lafayette Chapter President
- Ricardo de Abreu, Fourrier & de Abreu Engineers – New Orleans Chapter President
- Alex Guillory, Bluewing Civil Consulting – Lake Charles Chapter President
We appreciate each of these leaders for stepping forward to serve and look forward to the perspectives and expertise they will bring to the Board.
ACEC Louisiana's success is built on the willingness of our members to lead. I look forward to another successful year as we continue working together to strengthen the business of engineering throughout Louisiana.
Annual Membership Dues Invoices Coming Soon
Annual ACEC Louisiana membership dues invoices will be distributed to member firms and affiliate members early next month. As we begin a new membership year, we want to make everyone aware of a few important reminders regarding invoicing and payment options.
If your firm prefers not to receive a single annual invoice, ACEC Louisiana is happy to accommodate quarterly invoicing upon request. Likewise, firms already utilizing quarterly billing may continue with that option. If you would like to establish or modify your invoicing preference, please contact the ACECL office before your invoice is due.
Additionally, beginning this membership year, ACEC Louisiana will apply a credit card processing fee to all credit card transactions exceeding $100. As annual dues invoices are typically one of the largest payments many members make to the association each year, we encourage firms to plan accordingly.
Members wishing to avoid the credit card processing fee may pay their invoices by check or ACH, both of which will continue to be accepted at no additional cost.
We appreciate your continued membership and support of ACEC Louisiana. Your investment enables us to advance the business of engineering through advocacy, member services, professional development, and industry leadership across our state.

The ACEC Louisiana Facilities Committee has remained focused on protecting the practice of engineering and advancing policies that safeguard the public, specifically related to vertical design and construction.
A major accomplishment this year was the passage of legislation granting the State Fire Marshal's Office the authority to enforce Louisiana's incidental engineering law during its building plan review process. The law establishes specific occupancy thresholds that define when engineering services must be performed by a licensed professional engineer. If plans exceed those statutory thresholds and are not properly sealed by an engineer, the State Fire Marshal is now required to reject them.
This new enforcement authority represents a significant step forward in ensuring Louisiana law is consistently applied while protecting public safety and the integrity of the engineering profession. If you see plans in violation of this law that have been reviewed and approved by the State Fire Marshal, please forward to be at bdirmann@acecl.org.
