Looking Forward to the 2026 Legislative Session
While the 2026 Regular Legislative Session does not officially convene until March 9, ACEC Louisiana’s legislative work is already well underway. Our Legislative Committee leadership is actively developing priority legislation and engaging with potential bill authors to ensure our initiatives are thoughtful, strategic, and aligned with the interests of the business of engineering and the engineering profession in Louisiana.
Because we are still in the process of fine-tuning the legislation and securing bill authors, we are not quite ready to share specific details on these efforts. However, that time is coming soon. In the weeks ahead, a Legislative Committee meeting will be scheduled to walk through two key legislative instruments, discuss strategy, and gather member input before the bills are formally introduced.
Throughout the legislative session, ACEC Louisiana will continue its robust member communications through Capitol Calculus, our weekly, and at times multiple time a week, legislative update emails. These communications keep members informed on the latest activity at the Capitol, including bill filings, committee action, floor votes, and other developments affecting the wide range of legislation we are actively tracking on behalf of the industry. Capitol Calculus ensures members stay informed in real time as legislative dynamics evolve. Subscribe for Capitol Calculus.
Member engagement is critical to our success at the Capitol. We strongly encourage members who are not yet involved to consider joining the Legislative Committee and participating in these discussions. These meetings provide an important forum not only to shape ACEC Louisiana’s legislation but also to share insights and perspectives on other bills and policy proposals that may impact the engineering industry.
Members can sign up for the Legislative Committee, or any ACEC Louisiana committee, by visiting: https://members.acecl.org/committees-overview. Your voice matters, and early engagement, especially in the legislative process, makes a difference.
